Northwestern Lehigh H.S. Wrestling

Hall of Fame

Michael J. Pladus

Mr. Pladus began his teaching and coaching careers at Northwestern Lehigh in the fall of 1980.  Although posting a combined record of 10-21-1, the first two years, the seeds of success were planted.  Over the next four seasons, he would lead the Tigers to an astonishing 57-3-1 record that include four consecutive Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament championships and three

Centennial League championships (1984-1986).  Mike's most remarkable season was in 1985, when the Tigers not only finished with a perfect 16-0 dual meet record, but also won League, District, and Regional championships.  In addition, Mike was named District XI Class AA Coach of the Year.  In 1984-85, the team was ranked number one in State (AA).

During his tenure at Northwestern, Mike had the pleasure of coaching seven individual District XI champions, four Southeast Regional champions, and four AA State place finishers.  During his six seasons as head coach, the Tiger posted an overall record of 68-29-2, a tribute to his hard work and dedication to the Northwestern Wrestling Program.
