1976-1977

1976-77 Northwestern Wrestling dominated the wrestling season by winning the Christmas Tournament, the Centennial League (14-0), the Centennial League Tournament, the District XI Tournament and by having a third place team finish in the Pennsylvania State Tournament.  Robert Hicks beat the eventual District XI and Regional champs and the team claimed three District XI champs: Chris Wentz (29-1), Bryan Billig (27-1), and Dan Blose (30-0).  Dwight Billig (25-10 TOOK SECOND PLACE IN THE District XI Tournament and Lucas Wentz and Rick Mohr had third place finishes respectively.  The team boasted four regional champs, Chris Wentz, Bryan Billig, Dwight Billig, and Dan Blose.  Chris Wentz was third in states and Dan Blose became the first STATE CHAMP in Northwestern Lehigh history.  Also Chris Wentz set a state record for pins in his career (76) and wrestled less than 100 times in high school.  He was also selected for the All-American Team.  The 1976-77 team was a GREAT one.
