2006-2007

The 2006-2007 was a season where the Tigers "Re-Wrote" history!  Under the coaching of Mike Williams and Bryan Klass, Northwestern Lehigh had a remarkable year.  For the first time in school history NWL placed SECOND in the PIAA STATE TEAM DUAL tournament!  The 2006-2007 Wrestling Team earned the followning titles:  Colonial League Champions, District XI Dual Champions, District XI Individual Champions, Regional Champions, and were selected to the Morning Call's AA Team of the Year! The Tigers went on to place fourth in Hershey at the PIAA individual state tournament where Northwestern was represented by four wrestlers.  ALL four wrestlers placed at states!  The Tigers sent one wrestler into the PIAA State Finals.  Sophomore Evan Yenolevich (112lbs) fell just short of capturing the gold.  Senior and defending state champion Scott Clymer (135lbs) placed third.  Senior Garrett Sukanick (189lbs) ended his his high school career with an impressive sixth place finish in the state.  Junior Victor Konno (125lbs) finished the season with an eight place finish.      Northwestern placed a school record THIRTEEN wrestlers at the PIAA District tournament earning a first place finish.  The Tigers captured two gold medals at Districts.  Evan Yenolevich (103lbs) and Dan Konno (145lbs) both were crowned the 2006 District XI champions.    Northwestern qualified eight wrestlers to the PIAA Regional Tournament where ALL eight wrestlers placed!  Again, the Tigers captured two gold medals.  Evan and Dan both were crowned PIAA Regional Champions.  The Tigers qualified six wrestlers to the 2006 PIAA State Tournament and while wining the Regional Tournament as a team!  This is only the second time in school history that the Tigers were crowned Regional Champions! For the FOURTH consecutive year the Junior Varsity team finish first in the JV District XI Tournament.  The Tigers were the highest placing AA team in District XI finishing third overall only behind Nazareth, Northampton, and Stroudsburg.  Yes, the Tigers place higher than Easton! The Tigers also had two wrestlers reach the 100 win milestone Sr. Ben Marich and Sr. Brandon Williams.  Senior Scott Clymer reached the 150 win milestone setting a new NWL career record at 152-23. The Tigers coaching staff were honored with many post season awards.  Head Coach Mike Williams and Assistant Coach Bryan Klass were named Co-Morning Call Wrestling Coaches of the Year.  Coach Williams received the Pennsylvania Head Wrestling Coach of the Year while Coach Klass received the Pennsylvania Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year award!  Coach Williams also received the District XI Head Coach of the Year honor and for the third time in four years Coach Klass received the District XI Assistant Coach of the Year honor!

The 2006-2007 Northwestern Lehigh Wrestling Team!   2007 PIAA State Second Place Finish! Congratulations Tigers!!  For the first time in school history, the Tigers are  2006-2007 PIAA Team-State Runner-Ups!!
