- He tried another business. It
failed.

- His fiancé died.

- He suffered a nervous breakdown.
1838
- Defeated for Speaker.
1843
- Ran for congress and was defeated.
1848
- Ran for congress and was defeated, again.
1849
- Rejected for land officer.
1855
- Defeated for U.S. Senate.
1856
- Defeated for Vice Presidency.
1859
- Defeated for U.S. Senate, again.
1860
- Was elected the 16th President of the United States.
Because
Abraham Lincoln chose never to give up, he became arguable one of the
most successful Presidents in the United States history.
Looking back at his life, he could have easily chosen to give up,
but his determination and willingness to succeed motivated him to keep
perusing his dreams.
