Northwestern Lehigh Wrestling

 Coaching Staff

Mike Williams (Head H.S. Coach)  

Coach Williams is entering his sixth season as Northwestern Lehigh head coach and ninth season as a Tiger.  The 2005-2006 season was a success.  Coach Williams coached his first State Champion in Scott Clymer.  For the first time in school history NWL placed fourth in the PIAA STATE TEAM DUAL tournament!  The Tigers went on to place fourth in Hershey at the PIAA individual state tournament where Northwestern was represented by six wrestlers.  Northwestern placed a school record ten wrestlers at the PIAA District tournament.  The Tigers captured two gold medals at Districts.  Northwestern qualified eight wrestlers to the PIAA Regional Tournament where ALL eight wrestlers placed!  Again, the Tigers captured two gold medals.  The Tigers qualified six wrestlers to the 2006 PIAA State Tournament.  The Tigers put two wrestlers into the finals.  Dan Konno was a runner-up and Scott Clymer was the 2006 State Champion.  The Tigers were Colonial League runners-up for the second consecutive year.  With numbers growing both on the varsity and junior high teams, Coach Williams is  looking toward the future setting high goals and expectations for the Tigers.  The Tigers will wrestle a really tough schedule this year going to the Reno Tournament of Champions. Coach Williams was able to add a couple of "new" coaches to his staff last season, which he is very excited about..  Coach Williams is a graduate of William Allen High School, where he took 3rd in the Cities in 1979.  As a member of the junior high team, he won a state title.  Coach Williams continued his education at Lock Haven State College and graduated in 1985 with a degree in Liberal Arts.  


Bryan Klass (Assistant H.S Coach)

Coach Klass enters his fourth season as a Tiger. Bryan was voted the District XI Assistant Coach of The Year in 2004 and 2006.  In 2006 he was selected as the PIAA Assistant State Wrestling Coach of the Year. For the third consecutive year, Coach Klass lead the Junior Varsity team to a District XI Title.  Coach Klass is a 1997 graduate of Wilson Area High School where he had an outstanding career.  Coach Klass was a four-time state qualifier and a two-time District and Regional Champion.  In 1997, Bryan became Wilson's sixth State Champion.  Coach Klass is currently Wilson's second winning wrestler with 131 career wins.  In his senior year, coach Klass was selected to the Dapper Dan all-star wrestling classic.  (This is an all-star meet between the best senior wrestler at each weight in PA vs. the best senior wrestler at each weight in the United States).   Bryan was inducted into Wilson Wrestling Hall of Fame in December 2001.   Coach Klass continued his wrestling career at Delaware Valley College where he excelled in both the classroom and in wrestling.  He was a three-time national qualifier and a two-time All-American.  Bryan was a three-time Academic All-American and was also named to Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities his junior and senior years.  Coach Klass graduated from Delaware Valley College with a degree in Business Education.  Bryan is currently finishing up his master degree in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University.  

Bryan teaches at Northwestern Lehigh High School.  He is a newlywed married to Krista.  Krista is employed by Weiss as a Pharmacist..  They currently reside in Whitehall.  


Brad Kleckner (Assistant H.S Coach)

Coach Kleckner is a 1997 graduate and varsity wrestler of Pottsville High School.  Brad is a three-time Schuylkill League Champ capturing the Outstanding Wrestler award all three years.  Coach Kleckner is a four-time District XI AAA place winner and a District Finalist.  Coach Kleckner was a state qualifier holding a school record for the most wins with a high school career record of 103-21.  Brad continued his wrestling career at East Stroudsburg University where he was a two-year captain.  He was a three-time place winner at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.  Coach Kleckner was a place winner at the EIWA's.  Brad was also two-time Academic All Conference member.  In his Junior year Brad was selected as East Stroudsburg University's TOP TEM athletes in the school.  Coach Kleckner graduated ESU with a degree in Health and Physical Education.    

Brad is in his forth year of teaching at Liberty High School in Bethlehem.  Brad is a newlywed married to Allison who is currently employed as a Special Education Teacher at William Allen High School.  They currently reside in Allentown.


Coach Freas (Assistant H.S Coach)

Coach Freas enters his first season at Northwestern.  Currently a student teacher, he graduates on December 16, 2006 from Kutztown University.  Coach Freas graduated from Emmaus in 2002, where he was a three-year varsity starter.  In high school he was a three-time district place-winer taking a 7th and 4th twice.  In college he wrestled a Kutztown University, where he was a three-year starter and earned a bid to NCAA Division II Nationals in 2006.  Also, in 2006 he earned NCAA Academic All-American honors.

 


Scott Anders (Head J.H. Coach)

Coach Anders is entering his fifth season as a tiger.  This will be Scott's third year as the head J.H. coach.  Scott is coming off a very successful season.  The junior high features a lot of varsity returnees.  The Tigers should make a run at the Colonial League Title this season.  Coach Anders hope to build on the success of the junior high program.  Scott is a 2002 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh were he compiled over eighty wins in his five years of wrestling.  As a senior, Scott compiled twenty-seven wins and was a Regional qualifier placing fourth in District.  He was a four-time Bloomsburg Invitational place winner and a 2002 team captain.  Coach Anders was the 2002 Wrestling MVP and Academic Honors nominee.  Scott is currently attending Kutztown University and majoring in Electrical Education.       

Scott is currently taking classes at Kutztown University and majoring in Electrical Education.  He resides in New Tripoli.    


Walter Frisch (J.H./Varsity Assistant Coach)

Coach Frisch is entering his seventh season as a coach at the Junior level.  He has been a critical member of NWL's coaching staff.  Coach Frisch runs NWL's morning lifting.  Coach Frisch is no stranger to Northwestern Lehigh.  He graduated from Northwestern in 1981 where he wrestled for nine years.  He was a member of the very impressive 1979 State Champion Wrestling Team.  Coach Frisch has spent many years coaching at the youth level.  He continued his education at Delaware Valley College where he graduated with a degree in Agronomy.  

Coach Frisch is employed at Sacred Heart Assisted Living.  He currently resides in New Tripoli and is married to his wife Kelly.  Coach Frisch has three children, Lucas, Jacqueline, and Sydney.


David Yenolevich (Assistant J.H. Coach)

Coach Yenolevich is entering his eleventh season as a Tiger.  David has coached with the Northwestern Youth Wrestling team since 1996.  He is helping the youth as well as assisting the Junior High and Varsity team.  Coach Yenolevich is a graduate of Saucon Valley High School where he was a member of the high school wrestling team.  

Coach Yenolevich has two children, Lauren and Evan.  They attend Northwestern High School.  They reside in New Tripoli.
